Kiaora everyone and whilst the Orphanage is still yet to open much has been happening and currently Regina and I are in Blantyre completing ( we hope ) the registration process for Mphatikizo, which means we can officially open the doors. Although we are, as it seems the norm in Malawi, running behind schedule, much has been happening and the repairs to the building are almost complete. The guards quarters at the Volunteer house are almost complete and are now only awaiting the windows and frames to be finished. Daniel and his family are already occupying one and together with his children seem to be enjoying life at the Mphatikizo house.

Our new Cattle Yard

Repairs to external plaster

Plumbers beginning installation of toilets and showers in Girls washroom

I will finish this here , its 6am in Blantyre, and yes the Landrover saga continues to be both the thorn in our side and the drain on our wallet. We will have a day spent with that wonderful African bureaucracy with tomorrow bringing a day spent at immigration for Josh and I. Landrover dependent ( as seems the norm at present ) we will be back in Liwonde come weeks end with interviews starting for the ”Mum “ job at the orphanage. Once this is completed along with Registration we can finally open the doors. The last few weeks has definitely been a whirlwind but both Regina and I but we can finally see light at the end of the tunnel. Thankyou all for your much needed help and support, as always we require more sponsors and thankyou for your patience.
Love and Hugs the Smedley family
